The Essence Of Cigar Rolling: Pavilion Club Reflection

Sometimes you get an evening that is just right, and if it's done properly that result should look effortless. This can be said about the cigar rolling experience we were invited to host at Pavilion members club in Knightsbridge. Blue skies and a warm summer breeze greeted guests as they entered the terrace facing Hyde Park, with a cool Cuban band keeping the rhythm going and Casamigo's keeping the tequila cocktails flowing. Guests could then turn their eye to our offering of the evening; a live cigar rolling experience with our roller in traditional Cuban attire. As the sun set, the space was illuminated with soft, ambient lighting, enhancing the intimate and exclusive ambiance.

Set up at one end of the terrace, our cigar rolling station featured a long table adorned with neatly arranged tobacco leaves, cutters, and wooden molds, creating an authentic and inviting workspace. The master cigar roller, hailing from a Cuban family, began with a demonstration that was both educational and mesmerizing. They explained the origins of the tobacco, the different types of leaves used, and the significance of each step in the rolling process. Guests learned about the filler, binder, and wrapper leaves, and how each contributes to the flavor and burn of the final product.

As the demonstration progressed, the roller showcased their skills with deft hands, meticulously arranging the filler leaves, encasing them in the binder, and then applying the wrapper with flawless precision. Their expertise was evident in the fluidity of their movements, turning raw leaves into perfectly formed cigars with a few skilled motions.

Guests were then invited to try their hand at rolling their own cigars under the watchful eyes of the experts. This hands-on experience was a highlight for many, as they discovered the intricacies and challenges of cigar making. The artisans provided personalized guidance, ensuring that each participant crafted a cigar to be proud of, regardless of their skill level.

Throughout the rolling process, the atmosphere was lively and interactive. Guests chatted with us and the roller, asking questions and gaining insights into the history and culture of cigar making. The camaraderie among attendees was palpable, as they shared tips and admired each other’s creations.

To enhance the experience, each rolled cigar was paired with a selection of Casamigos Tequila and canapes, allowing guests to appreciate the complementary flavors. The smooth, zesty and fresh profiles from the tequila highlighted the nuances of the cigars, creating a harmonious tasting experience.

By the end of the evening, guests left not only with a newfound appreciation for the craft of cigar making but also with their own hand-rolled cigars as a memento of the event. The cigar rolling activity was a perfect blend of education, interaction, and enjoyment, making it a standout feature of the night.

The cigar rolling at the Pavilion Members Club was more than just a demonstration; it was an immersive journey into a time-honored tradition, enriched by the expertise of master rollers and the convivial atmosphere among guests. Casamigos Tequila, with its smooth and refined flavors, complemented the cigars perfectly.

The event was impeccably organized, with attentive staff ensuring that every detail was taken care of. The combination of the elegant setting, the lively Cuban music, and the engaging cigar rolling activity made for a truly memorable evening. The sponsorship by Casamigos Tequila added an extra layer of sophistication, making this event a standout in the social calendar of the Pavilion Members Club.

Overall, the cigar rolling event on the terrace at Pavilion Members Club, accompanied by the enchanting sounds of a Cuban band and the exquisite taste of Casamigos Tequila, was an extraordinary celebration of culture, craftsmanship, and luxury.
